The Liamm project is a meeting of Xavier Boderiou, Sylvain Barou, and Antoine Lahay. The connections are multiple: the interweaving of instruments, sounds and harmonics but also of Breton, Irish and Scottish music. This unique album highlights the Great Highland Bagpipes in its specific context in Brittany, at the crossroads of repertoires, history and stories…

Most of the tunes in this album are composed ; although, we’d like to think that these would sound like 200 years old tunes which would have been given a special experimental/jazz/modern trad music treatment.



The album was recorded in Xavier’s workshop, at home.


Xavier plays Boderiou XB5S Bagpipes, Boderiou Bb wooden pipe chanter, RedWood drone reeds, Melvin chanter reed and Boderiou Sheepskin Bag.

Antoine plays Gibson, Takamine guitars and Eventide effects.

Sylvain plays Morvan flutes, Mukyayelyan duduks, Le Bihan biniou and Eventide effects.

Paul Salaun sings on Prizon Pontaniou.
